Align Number One New Zealand Sire In Singapore

12 October 2009

Highview Stud-based sire Align, (pictured), has maintained his position as the No. 1 New Zealand-based sire on the highly competitive Singapore racing circuit.

With less than three months of the Singapore racing year remaining, Align  has a narrow lead over his nearest NZ-based rival sire Stravinsky on the premiership table.

As of last week Align’s progeny had amassed S$806,660 in prize-money at Singapore race meetings in 2009, compared with Stravinsky’s progeny total of S$785,406.

Align and Stravinsky have had a titantic battle throughout the year on the Singapore sires’ ladder and are currently the third and fourth leading sires respectively overall.

Align’s leading performer in Singapore this year has been the Laurie Laxon-trained Waipapa (ex Chateau View) who has not finished further back than third in his last five outings including a winning performance at Kranji in August.

Align has been represented by eight individual winners in Singapore this year and these horses have won a total of 14 races.

Highview Stud manager Brent Gillovic said the continued excellent success of Align’s progeny on Singapore racetracks will ensure that his stock will be in high demand from Asian buyers at the upcoming Ready To Run and Yearling Sales series at Karaka in the next few months.

Align stands at Highview Stud, Hamilton, this year at a great value fee of NZ$7000 plus gst.
