Align to Infinity- Cup Horse in the Making

13 September 2008

Ruakaka trainer Donna Logan is predicting smart galloper Align To Infinity is a Cups horse in the making.

“The way he won his race at Ruakaka last Saturday was nothing short of outstanding and it was great to see a top horse return to his best form,” Logan said.

“He showed us an enormous amount of ability as a two-year-old and he was the early favourite for the New Zealand Derby last season,” she said.

“But he wasn’t quite up to the mark physically last season and needed time to mature so we put him aside for a good break,” she said.

“He has come up a lot stronger this season and when he won last Saturday I said to my son ‘he’s back’,” Logan said.

“Vinny (Colgan, jockey) said he did start to look around once he got to the front but once he gave him a couple of taps on the shoulder he just went whoosh and he was very impressed by him,” Logan said.

“He will go through the grades this season and I firmly believe he will wind up a Cups horse in the future,” she said.

The son of Align will have his next start in a 1400m race at Ellerslie on Saturday week.

Align To Infinity’s win in the Kamo Hotel 1400 at Ruakaka was his first win but the manner in which he accomplished it suggests he has plenty more time in the winners’ circle in store.

Align To Infinity became the 66th individual winner for his sire, Align, who stands at Highview Stud, near Hamilton.
