Leading Sydney trainer Gerald Ryan was “blown away” by the impressive winning performance on debut runner Road To Summer in the Fairfield Maiden Plate (1200m) for two-year-olds at Warwick Farm on Wednesday
“I felt before the race that he would go a good enough race because he had trialled up well,” Ryan said.
“After that we will sit down and map out a spring programme for him,” said Ryan.
“He is actually bred to get 2000 metres but he’s got a very good turn of foot,” Ryan said.
Road To Summer was ridden by Nathan Berry who rode a double at Wednesday’s meeting.
Road To Summer’s dam, It’s Spring Again, has left seven individual winners including the dual black type winner, Moti.
It’s Spring Again was purchased by Brent Gillovic for the Hong Kong Breeders’ Club which bred Road To Summer who was sold for $85,000 to BC3 Thoroughbreds at the Karaka sales last year. It’s Spring Again is back in foal to Highview Stud-based sire Danroad.
