A full brother to the smart three-year-old, The Hombre (Lucky Owners xAtlanta Belle), was born at Highivew Stud, near Hamilton, last week.
Highview Stud manager Brent Gillovic said the foal was born last Wednesday and was making good progress. “He has plenty of size and is obviously one of the most valuable foals born on the farm this year.”
The foal, like The Hombre, was bred by Peter Yip, co-founder of the Hong Kong Breeders Club and a major international racehorse owner and breeder.
John Bary-trained The Hombre has been among the more promising three-year-olds in New Zealand this season and has scored two wins in a handful of starts.
The Hombre has been subject to an offer of close to $1 million which was turned down by his owners.
Bary said The Hombre is headed for a tilt at the Group 1 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton in November.
