No Fear Deals To Ellerslie Three-Year-Old Rivals

20 January 2010

Auckland jockey Allan Peard said Johar gelding No Fear (ex There’s No Doubt) simply outclassed a talented field of three-year-olds at Ellerslie on Saturday.
“He dealt to them today and showed that he has got a lot of ability,” said Peard.
“This was a big step up in class from his maiden win at Ellerslie last start but it made no difference to him as he won with plenty up his sleeve,”  said Peard.

No Fear has been an absolute model of consistency this season having run three seconds in succession before his win at Ellerslie on December 28 and then yesterday’s success over 1600m.

No Fear now looms as a contender for the $2.2 million Group One Telecom New Zealand Derby (2400m) at Ellerslie on March 6. However, Peard wonders if in fact the gelding may have too much brilliance for the Derby distance.
“He is bred to stay but he is running fast times in these 1600m race wins,” Peard said.
Bruce Wallace-trained No Fear will either start next in the special conditions maiden mile at Ellerslie on January 31 or in the $70,000 H S Dyke Waikato Guineas (2000m) at Te Rapa on February 6.?¢‚Ǩ¬®
