Picketfence Formline For Coup Align

22 January 2008

Exciting sprinter Coup Align maintained his picket-fence formline when  taking out the Listed $60,000 Gore Guineas last Saturday in comfortable fashion

Trainer Michael Pitman said Coup Align does things in his races that other horses can’t do. “He’s got a sensational turn of foot and uses this to great effect at the finish of his races,” said Pitman after Coup Align’s sixth win in succession.

Pitman said he has always held Coup Align in high regard and this season he has shown his true colours.

“He was one of the most exciting horses I’ve trained from day one and now racegoers are seeing the best of him,” Pitman said.

“Every race this season he has stepped up another notch and the big thing is that there is still plenty of improvement in him yet.”

The Gore Guineas was the first leg of the Racing Southland Triple Crown which Coup Align looks to have at his mercy.

The remaining legs in the $100,000 series are the Dunedin Guineas at Wingatui on January 31 and Southland Guineas at Ascot Park on February 14.

Bred by Highview Stud in Hamilton, Coup Align (NZ) is raced by iconic South Island owner Ray Coupland, together with Jill Walls.

Coup Align (NZ) is one of four winning foals to race for the Snippets mare Diamond Snip.

Standing at Highview Stud in Hamilton, Align is the sire of the Gr.1 winners Fully Fledged (NZ), and Nightlign (NZ).
