Wealth Princess aiming for Stradbroke Handicap. Sprint sensation Wealth Princess will be aimed at a tilt at the Group 1 $1 million Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in Brisbane on June 12.

Owner-trainer Brent Gillovic confirmed the Stradbroke Handicap will be the mid-winter target for the promising mare after her close second placing in the Group 1 Waikato Draught Sprint (1400m) earlier this month.

At her last start Wealth Princess, owned by Victor Ngai, went within a whisker of a a valuable Group 1 success when she beat all but Tavistock home in the $200,000 Waikato Draught Sprint (1400m) at Te Rapa last month.

“She will now have a well earned spell and then come back into work for the Brisbane winter trip with the Stradbroke her aim,” Gillovic said.

"It was a gutsy performance from her in the Waikato Draught Sprint in which she showed  she is right up to the very best horses in NZ. We dragged Tavistock into the race from the 600m and he was able to slingshot her at the death. One can only muse what might have been, but all things going well, she will have her day in the sun at the elite level. After all she was a Rating 70 horse only 6 starts ago. She has come an awful long way in a very short time this season and she has a huge future ahead of her" he said.

Wealth Princess has won five times and had a second placing in only seven career appearances to date. Her only time out of the money was in the Group 1 Telegraph Handicap at Trentham in January in which she was blocked for runs the entire journey and was desperately unlucky not to finish second at worst.
