Matamata trainer Mark Brosnan is gaining an added thrill out of the winning performances of two-year-old filly Danrose.
Not only does he train the Danroad two-year-old filly but he also bred the unbeaten filly in partnership with his wife, Yolande. And Yolande Brosnan is among the syndicate of owners which races the filly.
She then led all the way with a gutsy performance to maintain her unbeaten record in the Hamilton RSA 95th Anniversary 1200 at Te Rapa last Saturday on a very testing heavy track.
“She still has a lot of development to do,” Brosnan said. “It was a big effort to win at Te Rapa with a big weight and a wide draw to contend with.”
“She has a lovely galloping action which suggests she might go on top of the ground as well even though she obviously handled these wet tracks no problem,” Brosnan said.
Reese Jones, who rode Danrose at Te Rapa, said the filly has a large amount of natural ability.
“She is a natural two-year-old who has plenty of energy and she was never in danger of defeat,” Jones said.
Brosnan confirmed that Danrose will now head to Otaki next month to chase black type honours in the Listed $45,000 Ryder Stakes on July 30.
“The Ryder Stakes will be her biggest test to date and it will be interesting to see how she performs. She can’t do anything more than win and she’s done that well so far,” Brosnan said.
