Align is particularly suited to New Zealand mares on both type and pedigree. He consistently throws good, correct types that are eagerly sought by buyers.
Aligns affinities at this early stage of his stud career seem to be Showdown, Sir Ivor and Grey Sovereign. Both his Group 1 winners have 2 out of 3 of those strains. Night Shift himself has a strong affinity with both Grey Sovereign and Showdown.
Align scored his Group 1 victory in the AJC Sires' Produce Stakes at Royal Randwick. Trainer John Hawkes said: "Of all my outstanding 2yos I consider only Octagonal to be slightly superior at two years. Align was a brilliant 2yo and should have been undefeated. A horror Golden Slipper Stakes draw and subsequent trip saw him beaten only in the last stride. Align is all class and a horse full of character. I feel sure he will be a success at stud."
