Stakes Winning Son Of Zabeel

2010 Service Fee $4000 + gst

Zabeel’s stakes winning son Sufficient will stand his second season at Highview Stud in 2011.

He is the first son of champion sire Zabeel secured for stud duties at Highview and is an exciting addition to the stallion line-up.

Sufficient is one of only three male stakes winning two year olds ever sired by Zabeel which puts him in rare and distinguished company. The others are none other than the Hong Kong champion Vengeance Of Rain and the Australian superstar Octagonal.”

Sufficient was a top-class galloper and his pedigree is outstanding. He is a lovely horse who is going to let down nicely before the stud season. He has a great looking head on him and is a perfect stallion choice for the New Zealand breeding industry.

There is not a flaw to be found in his pedigree and it contains many of the stallion breed shapers of New Zealand – Sir Tristram, Zabeel, Centaine, Sound Reason and Oncidium.

Sufficient finished second in his race-day debut at Ellerslie, beaten only by a long neck.

The strong merit of that run resulted in Sufficient going straight into a stakes race at only his second start.

Sufficient didn’t let his supporters down by winning the Listed ARC Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Ellerslie in scintillating fashion. He treated his rivals with contempt in the Champagne Stakes and showed what a serious racehorse he was.

Sufficient’s other career win came in January 2009 when he produced a stunning winning performance in an open event over 1600m at Ellerslie.

In that success Sufficient recorded the second fastest winning time for 1600m at Ellerslie in 2009.

Sufficient’s sire, Zabeel, needs no introduction and is the greatest living sire at stud in Australasia today.

Zabeel is the sire of 39 individual Group 1 winners, 88 individual Group winners and 127 individual stakes winners. His progeny have won 10 Derbies, 8 Oaks, 4 Cox Plates, 3 Melbourne Cups and 3 Caulfield Cups.

Sufficient is out of the Group 2 winning mare Fleur De Chine – dam of the Gr. 1 SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Tully Thunder.

This is also the family of US Group 1 Del Mar Stakes John C Mabee Handicap winner Black Mamba and Group 1 AJC Australian Derby winner Roman Emperor as well as Group 2 Wellington Guineas winner Rios.

“It is one of the hottest families in the New Zealand stud book and has the knack of  coming up with one outstanding galloper after another,” said Gillovic.
