Proisir crowned Champion Sire

Divine Prophet
Divine Prophet

At the conclusion of the New Zealand racing season Divine Prophet's full brother Proisir has officially been crowned New Zealand's leading sire for 2022-23.

The 2022-23 season saw Savabeel’s eight-year reign as champion Kiwi sire broken in spectacular style. Proisir sired 47 winners from 89 runners on New Zealand racetracks, with eight individual stakes winners and total progeny earnings of $4.15 million. That places him almost $1.5 million ahead of the second-placed Savabeel, who amassed $2.68 million.

Proisir’s astonishing season included five individual Group One winners – Dark Destroyer, Pier, Legarto, Levante and Prowess.

Highview is excited to be standing a Group One winning full brother to Proisir this season.

A son of the highly successful and emerging sire of sires Choisir, Divine Prophet scored a career defining victory in the G1 MRC Caulfield Guineas (1600m), won in the past by Champion Stallions Vain, Lonhro and Redoute’s Choice.

Posting a scintillating last to first victory in the G3 ATC Up And Coming Stakes (1300m), a race previously won by Marscay, Snitzel, Fastnet Rock and Exceed And Excel – all of whom have gone on to become Champion Sires in Australia, Divine Prophet is a full-brother to the G3 winning, G1 placed Proisir, now a G1 stallion.

One of only four G1 winning sons of his sire standing at stud in Australiasia, Divine Prophet is out of the blue hen mare Prophet Jewel, a daughter of the twice crowned Champion Broodmare Sire Encosta de Lago.

With his oldest runners now 4YOs, Divine Prophet has already produced over 77 individual winners including Group-winning 2YO PROMITTO (ATC Skyline S. G2) and G2 Sandown Guineas winner SEE YOU IN HEAVEN, along with stakes placed horses Soothsayer, Fortunate Kiss and Kamitori.

Divine Prophet’s progeny in the sales ring have been popular, selling up to $375,000 and finding favour amongst such luminaries as Hawkes Racing, Andross Bloodstock Pty Ltd, McEvoy Mitchell Racing, Belmont Bloodstock, Star Thoroughbreds, Randwick Bloodstock Agency, Maybe Racing & Breeding, Australian Bloodstock, Lees Racing, Archer Park Racing, Bahen Bloodstock, Kendrick Racing, Will Clarken Racing, Laming Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Gollan Racing, John Foote Bloodstock and Bennett Racing, to name a few.
