Having been purchased by B2B Thoroughbreds mid-way through 2025 as a long-range broodmare prospect, Divine Prophet’s Generosity delivered her first black type win for her new connections, winning the $500,000 G2 ATC Challenge Stakes (1000m) for the formidable Waller - McDonald combination.

With race favourite Raging Force missing the start slightly, before being pulled out of the race mid-way through, the speedy Mazu went to the lead and quickly the field strung out over many lengths.

Getting the perfect run in third position, Generosity tracked Golden Slipper winner Marhoona in the run and once the field headed into the straight, McDonald came to the outside on the daughter of Divine Prophet to make her run.

With Marhoona taking the lead from Mazu at the 200m mark, Generosity joined in as the leading trio went stride for stride.

When the line was reached, Generosity held a short half-head winning margin over the Michael Freedman trained Marhoona, with a head back to the old-timer Mazu who resumed with an outstanding effort.

Working home really well late after getting back in the field, second favourite Giga Kick may be looking for 1200m now.

With the plan to try and secure further black type for the mare, trainer Chris Waller indicated that there are a few possible G1 targets this campaign for her.

“Generosity needed to be fit and fresh to win this race. She will go to The Galaxy on our home track at Rosehill now,” said Waller.

“I didn't lose faith in this mare but she didn't really fire in Melbourne so we thought let's get her home and have her nice and fresh for her return.

“She's got very good form in Perth and she's a talented mare. She was ready to go a month ago and then we thought where are we going to run her?

“We know she is good fresh and we couldn't find the right race so we put her on the treadmill for a week. Then we gave her a third trial as we knew she had to be very fresh and fit for this race.

“She is a lovely horse to worth with, she is mentally mature now. We will go to The Galaxy now and could even look at the Sangster Stakes in Adelaide.”

Jockey James McDonald felt that sitting handy helped the mare get over the line.

“She jumped alertly,” said McDonald. “I wasn't intending to be there but she looked great in the parade ring. She presented like the winner and she just jogged up. A pleasant surprise landing in a good spot, she's just a bonny little mare.”

“All three of them actually, they fought it out really well. Take nothing away from the second horse (Marhoona), I didn't think I was going to get there so she's a very good filly in her own right.

“Chris (Waller) was pretty confident. You always get so much confidence when you get legged onto Chris's horses, they're primed, they're ready to go. She looked great and she was ready to run a good race. "

When asked if she would be competitive at G1 level, McDonald indicated that with the right conditions, she could be.

“She's probably a length or two below it to be fair, but she'll get her turn. She's Group 2 placed (3rd in The Shorts) from memory but a Galaxy down in the weights is the perfect race for her.”

The fourth leg of an extraordinary six group winners for Champion jockey James McDonald at the Randwick meeting, Generosity took her overall record to five wins and 12 placed efforts from 26 starts, with $1,225,415 in earnings.

Bred by Aquis Farm and offered through Glastonbury Farms’ draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, just $9,000 was need by Western Australian trainer Simon Miller to secure the filly.

Generosity is the third winner and second at black type level from four to the races out of the Casino Prince mare Orabelle, a three-quarter-sister to the Listed winner All Too Royal and a half-sister to G3 winner Bel Merci.

Also the dam of Annabelle and Rob Archibald’s multiple Listed winner Midnight In Tokyo, the multiple Listed winner Orabelle is herself a daughter of the G1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Bel Mer.

With the mare currently based at Parson Creek, her current 2yo is an unraced Russian Revolution filly named Bella Tatiana in the stable of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr.

Orabelle’s current yearling, a colt by Russian Revolution was sold earlier this year at the Magic Millions yearling sale to Stable 88 for $130,000 from the draft of Newgate Farm, while mare has not had a foal since, having missed to Farnan and Stay Inside in the last two seasons.

The best of six stakes performers for the former Aquis stallion, G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet now stands at New Zealand’s Highview Stud with the full-brother to six-time G1-produing sire Proisir having covered just three NZ books of mares to date. - Breednet.com.au
