Jolly Bountiful Provides Bullbars First Winner in Hong Kong

Bullbars was represented by his first winner in Hong Kong with his son Jolly Bountiful victorious last night in the Shatin Heights Handicap over 1,200m at Sha Tin.

It was his second start in the colony having previously debuted for third over 1,000m at Happy Valley.

The gelded three-year-old son of Bullbars and Senoita Rosay was favourite for the race based on his first up effort.  Trained by John Size and ridden by Umberto Rispoli, he settled midfield from his inside gate and travelled comfortably there until approaching the home turn.  Rispoli pulled him to the middle of the track where he put in his challenge to claim the leaders in the shadows of the post.

Jolly Bountiful's only New Zealand track appearance was at Avondale in late August where he won a trial by six lengths, in the appropriate name of Handle Bars Down.  He was trained by Danny Walker at Ardmore Lodge.

With the current Hong Kong season shortly coming to a close, there will be excitement among Jolly Bountiful's owners about what next season may hold.

Bullbars will be represented by Here He Comes in the Queensland Derby on Saturday, a chance to add a Group1 to his already impressive record.  Bullbars stands at Highview for $5,000 + GST.
