Wrote's Son Vincero's Double Success

As Wrote's first United States crop has entered it's three year old year, it is not surprising that the son of High Chaparral has seen the performance of his progeny improve with time as they have been stepped up to the mile and further.

Illustrating this is Vincero, his gelding son out of the Congrats mare The Marikutana.  In his first campaign spanning Nov 17 to Feb 18, he had four starts, the best result being a fourth placing.  However, he returned to the track in late May and has strongly put together two straight wins at Gulfstream Park in Florida over 1,600m and 1,700m.

Vincero's first victory was on the dirt over the mile distance.  From the gate he settled just behind the leaders, biding him time in fourth place.  Coming to the turn he was left stalking the race favourite, whom he collared early in the run-in, and cosily went to the line just short of three lengths clear.

He stepped out again at Gulfstream Park on 22 June over 1,700m on the turf.  Bouncing to the lead from the inside gate, he set a steady pace through the first half half of the race.  He increased the pressure with 600m to go, quickly establishing a three length lead which he held all the way to the line, without looking to be challenged at any stage of the run home.

The comfort and margin of his two wins since returning from a short spell suggest that Vincero's connections could set their heights a little higher now.

Wrote has made an excellent start to his stud career.  In his first crop he has to date had five winners.  One of these, High Providence was second in the Listed Louisiana Downs Sunday Silence Stakes.

Wrote is standing for the upcoming season at Highview at a fee of $5,000. His pedigree boasts key contributors to the NZ breeding scene in seasons past.
