- A MULTIPLE GROUP WINNING SON OF SNITZEL -

Mr Mozart was a debut winner at two and his highlight victory came in the G2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m), beating Group One winner Never Been Kissed.

He also won the G3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m), G3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) and Listed Exford Plate (1400m), defeating multiple Group One winner Artorius in the latter.

A consistent galloper across three seasons, for trainers Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes, Mr Mozart also boasts placings in the G2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m), G2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) and A$1 million Silver Eagle (1300m) and he earned A$796,900 in prize money.

By the incomparable SNITZEL, the leading sire of stakes winners in Australia, with 18 SW of 24 stakes races.

He is out of the Group Three winning Rip Van Winkle mare Euro Angel, who was bred by Windsor Park Stud. This is the family of Polish Princess, Leebaz, Polish Knight and Zebrowski.

He has let down into a really imposing individual built in the mould of a real Australian sprinter/miler.

He covered 160 mares across his first two seasons (2024 & 2025) and his fertility was exceptional. The quality of mares covered was very good, in particular the support he received from our fellow owner James Chapman of Jamieson Park, who of course raced him.

His first foals are on the ground, and the reports from breeders have been overwhelmingly positive. Across the board, feedback has been consistent: good, strong, correct types with excellent temperaments. There’s a genuine enthusiasm building around this first crop, and connections are already looking ahead with confidence to the 2027 Yearling Sales.

"He has the Snitzel strength and is a good size and on his dam side he has a pedigree that should see him throw middle distance and classic horses too.

He is over 16hh and is a deep chestnut colour, very flashy. He is a good-looking horse with a lot of bone, powerfully built and very correct."

Brent Gillovic, Highview Stud

"He was a tough front running horse and just a very good horse.
I will be putting some good resources behind him. I hope to send 20 mares and will be buying mares specifically to suit Mr Mozart. I’d like to find speed-type mares, that’s my plan.”

James Chapman, co-breeder/owner

“We really like him, he’s got pedigree, race record and type in his favour,” he said. “We’ve sent a variety of mares to him and we’ve been rewarded with nice quality foals, really good colts and fillies. He’s an easy horse for us to recommend to clients, being a son of Snitzel, and we’ve seen how well Sword of State has gone. He’s a really good chance.”

Mark Chitty, Haunui Farm
