Stallion Handler

An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right applicant to join our team, working with our four resident stallions and assisting with our breeding operation for the up-coming breeding season. Start date will be August but can be flexible.

The Role includes:

  • Daily handling and care of the stallions

  • Covering and holding broodmares in the breeding barn.

  • Preparing mares for service

  • Teasing mares

  • Caring for broodmares and foals

  • Administering treatments, working with the vets and farrier, helping with crush work and all general stable duties.

The position is ideal for an experienced, professional horse person with organized habits and able to work under pressure. Previous stallion experience preferred but the right applicant could be trained. No accommodation is available at this stage.

Night Foaling Watch

Highview is seeking reliable and punctual staff for Night Foal Watch for the upcoming foaling season. Shifts will be 6 pm to 12 pm and 12pm to 6 am or we could accommodate a later start. The position will run from the mid -August until the end of November.

 The Role requires:

  • Previous experience foaling down mares.

  • Reliable and punctual applicants

  • Working independently for 6-hour shifts

  • Being available for a minimum of 4 shifts.

  • Experience driving a quad bike or ATV

  • Administering medications as needed

  • A good level of fitness

  • Mucking out, feeding hay and filling waters.

Stud Groom

The ideal applicant will be experienced handling weanlings/yearlings and be familiar with general stud and breeding procedures.

 The Successful Applicant will:

  • Work 30 hours per week until August including alternate weekend shifts

  • Work fulltime through the Breeding Season

  • Have previous Stud experience

  • Be available for some night foal watch

  • Administer medications as instructed

  • Have a good fitness level

  • Be able to work under pressure

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and communication skills

Yearling prep staff will be required from October 2024-February 2025. Enquire now if interested.
